"Educating Owners to Create Smart Dogs"

Brynlea Fairwayfox Tufstuf HC, UDX, OA, CGC

Every owner has one dog that seems to capture the heart and soul and for Kim, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Tuff, was that dog. Tuff took home many class wins, High in Trial and High Combined awards and was Kim's first UDX. Tuff was nationally ranked as one the top three Pembroke Welsh Corgis as ranked by OTCH points for years 1999, 2000 and 2001. He held the #1 ranking in utility and #2 ranking in open for Corgis nationwide in 2000. Tuff and Kim were collecting points for their Obedience Trial Championship when a back injury prevented him from going any further. During his retirement Tuff was the inspiration for a children's library program in which he helped Kim spread the word about responsible pet ownership. Tuff and Kim are shown in Cheyenne, Wyoming accepting one of many first place ribbons and getting Tuff's CD with a score of 198 out of the Novice B class.

Charles Ranch Dudley Do-Rite HCT-s, CD, AJP, OAP, RA, CGC

Nicknamed Bug, this 7 year old mini-dynamo came to Kim through her Pembroke Welsh Corgi rescue program at the age of 2. Through love, positive reinforcement and motivational training, he was able to come into his own and excel at agility, obedience and herding. Bug was a success story. He went from rescue to being nationally ranked as the number three novice obedience Pembroke Welsh Corgi for 2004 (AKC Novice B/Delaney System ranking). In 2005, Bug achieved 4 new agility titles and 2 rally titles to include 8 first placements and a perfect score of 100 in Rally Novice. Kim (center) and Bug are shown taking first place honors in the Novice B class at a 2005 specialty in Virginia.

Nebriowa Number Two Genoa HT, UD, CGC, TDI, FS, Delta Pet Partner

Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Genny, was Kim's first Pembroke Welsh Corgi and first UD. Genny was a quiet, patient dog who had an unbelievable skill to quickly learn anything that Kim threw her way. She was a delight to train and had a bit of a sense of humor when being shown. She was known on occasion to remove a glove from the directed retrieve exercise and deliver it gently to anyone who happened to be seated ringside in a wheelchair. Genny was an animal assisted therapy dog that Kim also trained as a helper dog for her Mother. Hence the love for anyone in a wheelchair. Genny and Kim are shown getting a first place out of the Open A class at a trial in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Hopalong Que-Se-Diche TDI, Delta Pet Partner

Que-Se was a Doberman Pinscher who was rescued by Kim with the help of the Doris Day Animal Foundation. An animal control officer found him with a severe leg injury. He had to have a rear leg amputated. He was very fearful, but of sweet temperament. He was a classic example of a dog who had never been socialized or trained.

Kim worked many years to train and rehabilitate Que-Se. He had three legs, therefore could not be shown in any AKC competition, but he seemed to have a calling. With the gift of time, positive training and love, Que-Se went on to participate in an animal assisted therapy program. Que-Se was used in a rehabilitation unit where he was an inspiration to the patients and staff that worked with him.

Flagship Flying Solo, CD

Doberman Pinscher, Logan was owned by G. Schatzman who entrusted her training and trialing to Kim. This beautiful girl earned her CD in three straight shows with blue ribbons along the way. She was retired due to health problems that took her away from us way too soon. At the time that she was retired, she was showing for and had earned legs towards her CDX. Logan and Kim are shown getting a first place in Novice B in Prescott, AZ. Photo: Copyright Kohler

Lemil's Ain't Ms Behavin' CD

Doberman Pinscher, Ember, owned by J. Bauer, was a frequent visitor to the Fairwayfox Dog Training household. She often accompanied Kim to be trained and shown in the obedience ring. Ember was somewhat of a comedian who could at times find things like standing in the middle of the coffee table a viable activity. Ember and Kim (right) are shown here on the day Ember got her CD in California.

Calico Ridge C. R. Rudder CDX, CGC, TDI, Delta Pet Partner

Rhodesian Ridgeback, Rudder, was not the easiest dog to train, but taught Kim the most about working with difficult behaviors. She was a canine comedian and at times, devil with the ridge. She was being trained for utility when she was diagnosed with and lost her battle to cancer. Rudder was a successful animal assisted therapy dog that worked with autistic adults and abused children. A photo of Rudder was adapted by Gulf Publishing Company to use as the logo for their Barker Heeler imprint. Rudder and Kim are shown here taking High in Trial out of Open A at a specialty in California.
